Things that made 2009 a oh-so-good year, in no particular order.
Part 1 today:
Kaise bataayein, kyun tujhko chahe, yaara bataa na paaye.
Baatein dilo ki, dekho jo baaki, aankhein tujhe samjhaye.
Tu jaane na...

Sometimes in life, somethings just hit you. It was late October last year when my dear pal Partho brought this song to my notice. I immediately got hold of it, and, straightway, I was hit.
I have little (no) penchant for poetry and I rarely go for songs just because of good lyrics. The first thing on my priority list is always melody, second comes the arrangement, third, the rendering of the artiste, and lyrics comes a distant fourth. But the poetic appeal of this particular number simply left me enthralled.
Each line of the song is so perfect, each of the words express the emotions they mean to so beautifully. Every time I listen to a line and feel that this is the best part of the song, and then the next one follows, and there I go again. I have come across a few other (Bollywood) songs with some beautiful lyrics, which are just amazing works of poetry (combined with awesome music); Chandni roop ki (Dus), Sun ri sakhi (Hum se hai muqabla), to name a few. This one definitely ranks among the very top. Hats off to Mr. Kamil.
And of course Kailash has put all his soul into this performance and Pritam has done a real good job on the melody (I still don't know where he lifted this one from... :P)
This song definitely was pretty much responsible for taking me back to Bollywood in 2009, after I had veered much more towards Bangla and English stuff in the recent past. :)
